Research in the Yew lab is centered on expanding the multi-faceted interface between enzymology and biological chemistry; we are interested in the rational design and directed evolution of enzymatic activities, deciphering enzyme specificities, discovery of new enzymatic functions, mechanistic enzymology of enzymes of pharmaceutical importance, drug design and therapeutic development against infectious diseases, cancer and ageing, and defining the use of Synthetic Enzymology for biomedical and bioremediation applications.
