DENG Lih-Wen obtained her bachelor degree from National Taiwan University and PhD from University of Cambridge where she carried out the study of the binding interface between filamentous bacteriophage fd with the F-pilus of Escherichia coli in Professor Richard Perham's group. Lih-Wen then broadened her interests of protein-protein interactions into immunology field and received her postdoctoral training under Professor Jack Strominger in Harvard University. During the course of searching a ligand for immune receptor, she identified a novel gene, Mixed Lineage Leukemia 5 and has carried on her investigations on this molecule in the cell cycle regulation and cancer development. In 2004, she started her independent position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, National University of Singapore.
